Chan Chan, the largest pre-Columbian city in South America, was the capital of the ChimĂș Kingdom, the ancient civilization that came after the Mochas and which lasted until 1470, when it was conquered by the Inca Empire.
Every now and then the whole population of the village of Campo Maior gathers and agrees on the organization of one of the most famous festivals in Portugal: the Festas do Povo (People’s Festival), also known as the Festas da Flores (Flowers Festival).
